Product Description

The 3M Neogen® Petrifilm® Staph Express (STX) System includes two components: the Petrifilm® Staph Express Count (STX) Plate and the Petrifilm® Staph Express (STX) Disk, each packaged separately.

The STX Plate is a ready-to-use culture medium featuring a cold-water-soluble gelling agent and a chromogenic, modified Baird-Parker medium that is selective and differential for Staphylococcus aureus. It may also indicate the presence of Staphylococcus hyicus or Staphylococcus intermedius. Distinctive red-violet colonies can be observed in as little as 22 hours.

By detecting S. aureus in food and environmental samples, the STX Plate provides food processors with a reliable indicator of food quality and sanitation effectiveness. The test requires only one incubation temperature and delivers results equivalent to the BAM three-plate Baird-Parker agar and tube coagulase method.
